Obama flubs on Medal of Honor recipient - Yahoo! News

Again? I've lost count on how many times President Obama has committed what I call "an unforced error." Its not at all about perfection, everyone makes mistakes. Certainly, given the amount of attention the POTUS gets his mistakes are magnified. This one insults both families of the soldiers who received the medals, but many others who align themselves close to our broader military family. It, fair or not, suggests a lack of attention and seriousness towards the military that only compounds the general perception that this President is not very supportive of the armed forces. I think he sincerely does care about the military but for every good deed you do (raise pay, benefits for military families, etc...) gaffs like this undo much of the positive perception.

From not putting his hand over his heart at the Iowa dinner while on the campaign, to saying he'd been to 57 States, to saying the police behaved stupidly on the Harvard professor breaking into his own house business, not releasing his long form birth certificate earlier, the Transportation global junkets info coming out days after you announced a big new project to reduce waste, chewing gum at the Joplin Memorial service, the poor execution of the toast to the Queen, to putting the wrong date on the Westminster Abbey guestbook and so on...

As small as many of these things are by themselves, together they begin to create a persona of someone who on some level may be brilliant, but on another level, oblivious.

  1. Who cares about stuff like this? The only thing that matters is that he does his job. Heck, no one is perfect. At least he doesn't throw up in his host's lap, doesn't talk like a 3-year old, illegally invades a country and send men and women to their death because of him lying to the entire world. Doesn't mean I have to love him but I fail to see where he's been disrespectful or less presidential. Don't vote if you don't want a human being as president.Or are yea without mistakes and blunders?

  2. I agree "Anon," these are mostly small things. Added together however, they become a "thing." A thing that might make it less likely that this President gets re-elected.

  3. You can add up all you will, it'll never outweigh the lies of the previous prez. And HE got re-elected!

Even if the economy was on track, even if all troops were withdrawn, even if all was good, these small things would still matter because people will be people and no matter how good things are, they need a scapegoat.

Prez Obama inherited this mess but now the opposition blames him while they praised Bush for the mess he got the country in. Where's the logic?

It has nothing to do with how good a president is. It's all about which party is in power. They don't love their country at all. That's just BS. The only thing they love is power and corruption.

Bottom-line is, voters can and will be stupid. It's only at times that a majority's a bit smarter. But sooner or later the minority's voice becomes louder and louder and, before you know it, stupidity rules once again.
