I'm not a gun owner, but this sounds a little odd:
Here's the actual Bill that's been approved...
In short, some gun owners will now be allowed to carry concealed firearms into bars, restaurants, and other places like shopping malls. Secondly, people convicted of various drug related misdemeanors will also be allowed to carry concealed firearms.
Also, they no longer have to be secured while in vehicles, BUT, if they are concealed, the driver may not reach for, touch, access, the weapon in any way. They also have to alert any law enforcement officer that they have a weapon present in the car, and if its loaded.
Thoughts?
This passed 78-18, which means it had bi-partisan support. Seems to me, its a fairly big step toward having guns take on a larger profile here in Ohio.
